“And He
saith unto them, follow Me and I will make you fishers
of men.” Matthew 4:19.
Steps Toward Discipleship
1. You need to get a bible you prefer (I
recommend the King James version). This is the very first
evidence that you really want a change.
2. Begin to read your bible follow this
link to a daily Bible Reading Guide. The Holy Spirit you
received when you received the Lord Jesus Christ as your
personal Lord and Savior (being born-again) will teach
and give you a new understanding each time you study your
Bible. At the same time the Holy Spirit will make it known
to you the plan and the purpose of God for your life,
and at the appointed time, God will help you fulfill it.
3. Pray and let the Holy Spirit comfort,
teach, lead, and guide you to the church God wants you
to become a member of. It’s very important for your
spiritual growth and encouragement in the Lord. Your walk
with the Lord, and the opportunity to fellowship with
other believers like yourself is also important. It is
the will of God that we have a pastor over us, so we can
grow and mature in the things of God.
4. Above all, remember, God wants a relationship
with you through the transformation of your heart, not
a religion. The only way this can be accomplished is by
becoming a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you will
do your very best at developing this relationship, the
Holy Spirit is always ready to help you become at your
best when you show the desire, and to help you overcome
your weaknesses.
